From the New River to the Coconut River (Rio Coco)
Radford Coffee Company gives its profits to the Rio Coco, the river that is the boundary line between Nicaragua and Honduras. Everyday the money Radford Coffee Company raises helps in the education of over 1200 students in 14 communities along the Rio Coco. This area has no electricity, running water, or roads. It is reached only by foot or dugout canoe. The project on the Rio Coco was started in 1986 by Mike and Laura Bagby. Thousands of children and adults have been helped over the years through the education project. In fact, many of the teachers on the River were our first students!
So, when you are enjoying a cup of coffee at Radford Coffee Company, know that not only are our profits educating children in Nicaragua on the Rio Coco, but also the growers that we buy green coffee from are helping their own communities with development projects funded by our purchase of their coffee beans. Along with your smile and satisfaction, this is coffee is bettering the lives of many human beings every step of the way.

Below is a gallery of pictures from our recent trip to the Rio Coco River! We were able to visit multiple schools we support through the shop. We were also able to help construct a new walkway in the village of Sawa!
