Ethiopia Kayon Mountain
Ismael Hassen Aredo has been operating the Kayon Mountain Farm with his family since 2012, employing twenty-five full-time staff and three hundred seasonal employees. Competitive and generous compensation is utilized to encourage long-term employee retention. Proceeds from this farm’s crops are used to contribute to the funding of building schools and administration buildings within their greater communities of the Taro and Sawena villages in the Shakiso district of Ethiopia.
Key to all of this is an incredible focus on producing quality coffee. Indigenous canopy trees such as acacia are used to provide protective shade for the coffee shrubs while composting is utilized create organic and natural fertilizer.
This natural processed lot from Kayon Mountain Farm is grown between 1900 to 2000 meters above sea level and dried on raised beds for twelve to twenty days. This creates a very delicate and fruity flavor with great cocoa and floral balance.
